The enormous temple to shopping that is the Central Market Hall (Nagyvásárcsarnok).

It is the largest and oldest indoor market in Budapest. The conceived by the first mayor of Budapest, Károly Kamermayer, it was first opened in 1897.

Spread over three floors including a basement level it is enormous and caters for both tourists and every day shopping for the local population. Wonderful food stalls, restaurants, mini bars, fresh meat and produce stalls sit alongside tourist trinket shops, with e fish market and a supermarket in the basement. Its a wonderful place to observe all Budapest life in a single location....and don't forget the paprika stalls!
