Perseverance

An ancient tree clings onto a sandstone outcrop. It's perseverance in finding a chink of rock to grow in over many years evident by the thickness and gnarled & tangled nature of the extended root system. It has not only given it a long life, but also protected the sandstone from erosion and crumbling. So both tree and outcrop have endured and survived.
